Halloween's canceled, at least that's what mom said. No costumes. No decorations. No trick-or-treats. Everyone's already wearing masks, she said. And she doesn't want strangers coming near us, touching things, talking, even breathing… This year sucks. Jessiann and Parker don't like it either, but at least their house is nice. I don't know how long we'll be here but it's already been weeks. Aunt Rene got sick and they won't let us go see her, not even mom, but she says we're gonna stay until everything's better. Honest, I don't mind. Their house is way nicer than our little basement apartment. It's in one of the oldest neighborhoods, with lots of trees and lots of space. There's even a huge yard we can play in! No one bugs us. You just have to watch for Chex’s bombs. He poops in the worst places. I don't really believe mom. How can Halloween be canceled?
