Thanks for the great tutorial on mask making! can you use faux leather? I work with some interior designers and I can get my hands on some faux leather samples. but real leather, I am not sure about. I do art on a budget, as in cheap as I can... free is better lol

Faux leather has the same properties as the other types of leather that's used for upholstery and so forth. Vegetable tanned leather is the only kind that will hold its shape after being wetted and dried, so sorry to say, nope the faux leather is a no go.

Thanks for the great tutorial on making leather masks! It was very informative. I have been making leather bracelets and other things for quite sometime but never really knew how to mold the leather and such. I want to make a long nosed style mask and was wondering if you had any pointers on how to shape the nose piece as it would be difficult to mold the features on your face as well as molding the nose at the same time.

Thanks! And again wonderful tutorial!

I'd look for something triangular and wedge shaped to use as a mold, if nothing else you could stack cardboard together, glue it, and cut it into the shape you want. The leather shouldn't be soaking wet when you're forming it, so the cardboard should last a few goes at least.
