Here she is, my blossom dragon playing in her own breath.

I have several pictures from different sides of the egg, but since I took them at night in bad lighting they're all as dark as this one. I'll repost this with better pictures later, just wanted to get it up there for now.

I started sculpting this around an ostrich egg in December, and when I was near the finishing point, I broke my left wrist. As you can imagine, this put a serious kink in my tail. Not only because my freakin' wrist was broken, but because I so wanted to finish this!

I learned a lot from this, like never do delicate work on an egg when you want to keep the egg for use again. I wound up breaking this in several pieces instead of just two like planned. Maybe it was the fault of my still weak wrist, but it was most likely just too delicate for what I was asking. In any case, I KNEW that things would muck up, so I had baked a bunch of extra blossoms from the remaining clay.

This is a bit different from my original sketch [link] but that really comes as no surprise to me since once I start sculpting, it gains its own personality. And one thing about this dragon's personality said that it most definitely wanted lots of little teeth, which came out quite well I think. One thing I'm not so pleased about is the inclusions. I decided I wanted this to look like a flecked jade, with darker flecks so I added some dark green spices. Turns out they turn white when baked and are on the surface. >_<

As said before, this was formed around an ostrich egg with polymer clay.
