Lucky 13 feature!

Sun Jun 21, 2009, 1:41 PM
The first 13 people answering this journal will get their avatar and the three deviations I like most from their gallery in my journal. If you respond, you have to do the same in your journal, putting me in the top slot. I got this from Glori's journal (and changed 14 to 13 because I hate the number 14) so she's up first.

Pastel Filigree Egg I dig this because of the negative space as well as the interesting textures.

Fall Wind Beads Strongly reminds me of wind chimes, I love the unusual color combination, and that they're all different sizes.

Lilly It's a good thing she's got such a great personality with all that pink on her. ;) I think her wings are perfect, and the mildly prissy attitude just tops this piece off.

Smileys!

Sun May 31, 2009, 12:07 PM
I've been working on a crapload of smileys lately. They're for the most part standard yellow and not anything unusual at all, but I like how they've turned out.

In other non artsy news, I've been spending far too much time painting the inside of the apartment building next door that my landlord owns. Yay for less rent, boo for getting covered in white paint.

Claying

Sat Mar 21, 2009, 4:50 PM
I've submitted a couple of eggs (normal sized this time) that I've made out of polymer clay. My wrist still hurts at times, and I don't have my full flexibility back, but I'm good enough to hold things steady. I've joined up with Art Fire, it's like Etsy, but doesn't charge you to submit your piece for sale. Which is good, because holy crap I'm drowning in debt. Turns out getting a titanium plate put in your body costs a fair bit, even with insurance. So my advice is, don't fucking break your wrist!

Broken

Wed Jan 7, 2009, 4:22 PM
Sat. here was incredibly icy, and despite being careful, I slipped. I slipped so fast and hard I couldn't move my arm out of the way, and shattered my radius plus shoved all the small bones in my left wrist into the wrong place. Yesterday (Tues.) I went in to be cyborged and now have a metal thingamabob in my wrist. Much to my dismay, they couldn't find a megaman gun to hide in there.

This is the most I'll write for a while, one handed typing sucks, and I can't sculpt either. :(

EGG

Thu Jan 1, 2009, 8:02 AM
Sometimes I really like freecycle. Freecycle is "free" and "recycle" combined and it's a yahoo group. What you do is look up freecycle and join up with the group in your area, and if you need something in particular, like say, hollowed out eggs you type in "Wanted: Hollowed out eggs". Well I did so, but asked for goose eggs since they're a bit larger than chicken eggs and I wanted to try something different. I got only one response, but the person had an OSTRICH EGG!
Apparently it was just sitting in their closet gathering dust so the nice lady gave it to me. Those things have such a thick shell, it feels and sounds like porcelain. It's such a neat thing to have that I don't want to break it (which is how I made my blue rose egg, once the polymer is cooked you chip out or dissolve the egg) so I'm thinking of making polymer eggs in two parts, top and bottom, and joining them with translucent liquid sculpey.
So prepare yourselves for some titanic eggs! Oh, and just because I have to share some trivia with you, the ostrich actually lays the smallest egg proportionately to it's body. So if a hummingbird and an ostrich were the same size, the hummer's egg would be much larger than the ostrich's. Also,CHOCOBOS REALLY EXISTED.
