Sometimes I really like freecycle. Freecycle is "free" and "recycle" combined and it's a yahoo group. What you do is look up freecycle and join up with the group in your area, and if you need something in particular, like say, hollowed out eggs you type in "Wanted: Hollowed out eggs". Well I did so, but asked for goose eggs since they're a bit larger than chicken eggs and I wanted to try something different. I got only one response, but the person had an OSTRICH EGG!
Apparently it was just sitting in their closet gathering dust so the nice lady gave it to me. Those things have such a thick shell, it feels and sounds like porcelain. It's such a neat thing to have that I don't want to break it (which is how I made my blue rose egg, once the polymer is cooked you chip out or dissolve the egg) so I'm thinking of making polymer eggs in two parts, top and bottom, and joining them with translucent liquid sculpey.
So prepare yourselves for some titanic eggs! Oh, and just because I have to share some trivia with you, the ostrich actually lays the smallest egg proportionately to it's body. So if a hummingbird and an ostrich were the same size, the hummer's egg would be much larger than the ostrich's. Also,
CHOCOBOS REALLY EXISTED.
